Parascapular: Focus on trapezial, latissimus and deltoid strengthening.  Do rows, pulldowns, shrugs and band work to squeeze your shoulder blades.  Your biceps will likely be conditioned as well but not to same degree.

Surgeon followup: New onset deficits should not develop after surgery.  You should follow up with your shoulder surgeon.

2nd opinion by D.O.: Whenever you're contemplating surgery for anything, including biceps tendinitis, it's great to get a second opinion to see another perspective of your condition. An osteopathic physician would be ideal for you to consult. S/he can provide a full workup and examination of your biceps, in relation to your entire body, to bring balance back into the equation. You may not even need the surgery. So it's valuable to get the second opinion. You can always postpone your surgery until you get the second opinion.

Yes : There is frequently swelling and bruising if the long head of the biceps tendon tore at the shoulder recently.  The biceps muscle tends to ball up closer to the elbow called a Popeye deformity. The swelling and bruising  will go away but the Popeye deformity will remain unless it is surgically corrected which isn't necessary unless there are other injuries like a rotator cuff tear.

i'm 5 weeks post shoulder instability surgery and my bicep hurts so bad! i'm at a 7 on the pain scale. what could be wrong?

Call surgeon!: Please call your orthopedist, or talk to the doc on call for the practice.  That doc knows what procedure was done and what possibly could be causing the pain now.  If you have fever, severe pain that is new, new numbness, tingling or weakness, and you cannot reach the doc, go to the ER for evaluation.

i had complete reverse shoulder surgery in december 2019 and did well with but now have pain in bicep area of same shoulder.  is this normal?

: Not normal at all.  Dislocation?, tendonitis?, late-onset infection?  Many possibilities.  See Orthopedist who did original surgery

No, labral tear: You likely have injured your labrum from the injury. While in general, popping of the shoulder is not a significant problem, popping after a dislocation is more significant. I suggest you see a shoulder orthopedic specialist and likely an arthrogram MRI is necessary.

Shoulder pain: Shoulder pain typically radiates down to the elbow.  This can be due to many causes including problems of the rotator cuff tendons, impingement, labral injury and stiffness.  Evaluation by a shoulder specialist would help initiate the appropriate treatment.
