Condoms: Use condoms EVERY TIME you have sex. Have them available so you won't forget. Use them correctly. Have yourself and your partner tested for STDs on a regular basis. 
Use another method of birth control as well if you are not interested in being a parent at this time. Condoms are good for STD protection; not so great for birth control. Get the HPV vaccine to protect you and your partner.

Dont have sex: That is the only dully effective method, and that includes 'traditional penile-vaginal intercourse' as well as oral and anal sex which are risky as well.  Remember that over 80% of all adults over 50  years will have been infected with hpv, so its virtually universal risk. Short of abstaining, use a condow, even with oral sex, limit partners an be tested regularly.

It can also lead to pregnancy inside the tube, which is an emergency and potentially deadly. Hpv can lead to cancer and pre-cancer lesions that need surgery and that can cause trouble such as incompetent cervix or even hysterectomy.
