"Backne" : Acne on the back is referred to as backne -it is treated in a similar way as is facial acne. We use topical and sometime s oral treatments. You can start with otc products containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid (but be careful as they can stain clothing).

Benzoyl Peroxide: I would start with an over the counter benzoyl peroxide wash like panoxyl. Be aware that benzoyl peroxide can be irritating to the skin and it can bleach dark clothing. You need to rinse it off very well in the shower. This would be a good start. You can also try otc salicylic acid products. If it doesn't work after 1 month, i would recommend seeing a physician.

It's not curable: Even in the 21st century with many quick fixes, acne must be managed. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in two weeks, get with your personal physician. He/she may be able to add a topical antibiotic such as clindamycin, a retinoic acid derivative, a systemic antibiotic, topical sprionolactone or some other rx.

Time/creams: Most will fade on their own, may take months to do so, and sun will keep dark. If you are using a retinoid for your acne, that will also help to fade, as wil azaleic acid(another topical acne tx). Failing that, must use a bleahing cream, but that may make acne worse, and finally sometimes lasers, but their side effects are dark spots as well. Would coordinate with a dermatologist.
