In a couple years: Believe it or not, a woman can get pregnant from sex even DURING her period!  Timing sexual intercourse to avoid the fertile time period (you can go to Planned Parenthood website to learn how) still leaves about a 10 percent chance of getting pregnant in a year (higher if not practiced perfectly).  I recommend two forms of birth control (such as pill/condom) or waiting until you are ready for baby

No time :): Actually, right after your menses would be the least likely time to conceive.  With age, we become less fertile but if you really don't want to become pregnant then some method of birth control would be recommended even if it is just condoms. Have you considered sterilization if you don't want to take hormones?

Fertility: Pregnancy is possible after unprotected intercourse on any day of a womans cycle. It is less common around the time of menses, but still possible.

Ovulation predictor.: You may benefit from ovulation predictor kits. They can give you a warning to intensify vaginal intercourse around that time when conception is most likely. Your wife should be on Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily - good luck!

Yes: Especially if you used a "quick start" method instead of starting during or the 1st sunday after your period.

Very good : Taking the pill only after intercourse? That will not work. The birth control pill must be taken daily and consistently to suppress the ovaries and block ovulation. Taking it any other way than how it was prescribed is not going to work. Consider using a different birth control method that you might like better.

Fertility: One does not often get pregnant with sex after ovulation. The most effective times to get pregnant are in the five days prior to your ovulation event.

99% effective: Withdrawal bleeding may take a few days to occur.  For peace of mind, do a pregnancy test 7 and 14 days after the intercourse in question ( second one to be done if first one is negative). Also, use consistent contraception if you want to avoid pregnancy.
