So keeping blood sugar and blood pressure under control will go a long way to protecting your kidneys! watching salt intake can help control blood pressure. not diabetic but check my glucose at times. usually it's between 90-100 when i test w/o fasting using onetouch.  last 2 days it's been 120 or 133.  i drink diet coke and gained 8 pounds within a year. should i be worried? physical in 2 weeks.

Blood sugar: If 120-133 is fasting sugar you should be worried for diabetes and see your doctor for further testing.

: They can both be done while fasting. I would never schedule these routine tests separately.

Moderation: Fruits contain sugar and will raise your blood sugar. You can drink it as long as you count it into the total intake of the day. Do it in moderation.

Water and glucose: When you drink water, your body gets rid of the excess (through urination) quickly.  It is very hard to dilute your blood, and your glucose is not affected by water intake.

Accepted Answer

: You don't have adequate circulating insulin to keep your blood glucose down. When glucose does not reach/enter the tissues, the body breaks down existing fat/muscle protein or stores from the liver to create more glucose so it goes up. You don't need to consume it for it to go up.

Powder: Depends entirely on what this powder does to your blood sugar.
