Acne scars may…: respond to vitamin A products (for minor imperfections) but a dermatologist may be needed for more severe defects (such as from cysts). Derm docs have a whole arsenal of ways to treat acne scars: chemical peels, dermabrasion, lasers, Botox, collagen fillers. If your acne is still active, get checked for polycystic ovary ds (increases male hormone which worsens acne) &amp; see dermatologist

Scar: I don't know about the product you mention.  Vitamin E oil (sold in a little bottle at the drug store) can be applied to the scar and it may lighten or remove the scar, even an old one.  No guarantees.  Peace and good health.

Either one: Most doctors whom I know recommend Mederma. Both medicines have the same purpose. They are not expensive. Try one and see how it works

Scars: Silicone sheets and gels can be very helpful but usually you need to be consistent and the usually time frame is three months. No need to use both just one or the other. However, it is not perfect and if there is not adequate resolution of the scar, you may need to seek consultation with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist.

Scientific Rx: I'm glad you're using benzoyl peroxide and if this is not keeping your current acne at bay, please get with your personal physician for something stronger. Nothing you can buy over the counter, despite the hype, is going to touch your acne scars long-term. You can either keep them (some hollywood "tough guys" like theirs) or get specialist treatment (filler, laser, microsurgery).

Excess scar: Unlikely a keloid (defined as a scar that grows outside the edges of the scar) and more likely a hypertrophic scar (excess reaction).  Silicone gel sheeting is used to sooth and quiet the early scar.  If symptomatic (like itching, stinging, etc) some will be treated by diluted kenalog (triamcinolone) (steroid) injections into the scar itself to attempt to slow or stop the scarring excesses.  See your dr to confer.

Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine): I suggest you stick with the silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) and see what's left of the burn sites before you apply anything else. I'm always impressed by how well silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) works to prevent infection and reduce scarring. If you're still uncertain have a medical practitioner take a look.

Carrier material: The medermaa gel is mixed with a carrier. That remains on the skin surface and dries? That forms a thin layer . That is what one sees with the small flakes.

Accepted Answer

Yes: This is an excellent option for hypertrophic scars before trying something like steriod injections. The trick is to wear the sheets essentially 24/7. It will take several months for the results to show. Patience is a virtue :-).
