Depends: A true tendinitis infers that there is inflammation going on. This will usually cause redness, lots of pain with use of that tendon. This is treated with rest, ice and anti-inflammatory medication. Lots of problems are called tendinitis that aren't inflammatory at all. If the pain has been there for months most likely it is not inflamed but probably has some degeneration that is causing the pain.

Do gentle calf stretches. If not better, see an orthopedic or sports medicine doctor.
