OTC Pain Relief: Aleve can be taken 200 mg Naproxen every 8-12 hours and 400 mg initial dose for adults.  Tylenol (acetaminophen) usually is 325-650 mg every 4-6 hours or 1000 mg 3-4 times/day not to exceed 4g/day. I typically tell patients to rotate the use of these drugs if they are going to do this but usually want my patients to try to use one to see the efficacy as both may not be necessary.If you  have questions, ask doctor.

Depends: The answer to this question depends on why you are asking.  Obviously the number of pills you take will define the dose, or strength.  Be cautioned however that almost all medications have side effects, many of which, given a high enough dose or a long enough exposure period, can be health harmful.  Also do not mask pain but rather find the source and treat appropiately.

No such drug: Except placebo. Which safely relieves pain in 30% of patients. All drugs have side effects, especially in large quantities and when taken long term. Best course of action is to see your physician who will address the cause of your pain and prescribe a medication that's safe for you.

No such animal: What is best for one, maybe off limits for another. If you had liver disease, i would not take tylenol or acetaminophen.  If i had diabetes, hypertension or kidney disease, i would only take anti-inflammatory meds under doctor supervision. So, answer maybe physical therapy, aqua-therapy, an orthopedic evaluation for your custom options.

Root Canal / Extract: Most sever toothaches are a sign that the pulp is infected or necrotic (dying and liquifying) & pressure is building up that is pressing inside on nerve, bone or the underside of the gum. Root canal therapy can often save the tooth, but a post/core & crown will be needed.  Decay can give minor toothaches & dentists treat with a filling. Otc pain pills may work, but see a dentist asap/.

Alieve or Motrin: The name brands for Naproxen or Ibuprofen at the normal doses work pretty well. The usual cautions about nsaid's apply so if you have Aspirin "allergies" or stomach ulcers you shouldn't take nsaid's. If these don't work for you, you need to get medical evalution.
