Aloe vera: Many patients of mine have reported that aloe helps them with their reflux - but remember, reflux and natural treatments have been around for thousands of years yet only with the advent of modern medication do we get truly 24 hour relief, so if the herbal remedies dont work, the next trip is to a doctor.  Also, any weight loss or trouble swallowing you must talk with an md!

Acid reflux (GERD): One of the best ways to control this is the use of a class of drugs known as H2 blockers. There are several and they are readily available, some OTC. Your doctor can prescribe these for you as well. Good luck.

Not really cure: The best way to deal with reflux is to first make sure you don't have another cause (h. Pylori, obesity, diet) and if not, you can start by limiting your intake before bed.  Avoiding acidic foods, and placing your bed on an angle (take the feet or wheels off the foot of the bed).  Some herbal treatments are licorice lozenges and aloe liquid.

Antacid: Start with otc Pepcid (famotidine) or mylanta. If does not work try Prilosec otc. If you still have reflux and pain go to your doctor for possible referral for upper endoscopy to look inside your stomach.

This is a cunundrum: It is difficult to find food per se to relieve gerd as eating stimulates more acid secretion and adds to stomach volume. Small amounts of water or white soda can be temporarily helpful, as can milk. Milk can lead to more acid rebound because of calcium. Its best to use antacids for immediate relief of heartburn.

PPI,foods avoidance: Medication in the ppi class such as prilosec. Along with avoidance of certain foods such as caffeine, citrus fruits, chocolate, fatty foods as as as spices...It is best for you to see doctor for evaluation and get proper treatment.

May not help much: There isn't a formula that is best for reflux...But some may be more agreeable to the baby than others. Elemental formulas are somewhat easier to digest--such as nutramigen/alimentum etc..--but can be quite expensive. Keep baby head elevated after feeding, thickening forumula with rice cereal etc..May help. If not adequate, see your doc for possible treatment etc..Congrats and good luck..

Many ways to tame: Less acidic foods, and smaller meals can help. Otc proton pump inhibitors like prilosec, or h2 receptor blockers like Zantac (ranitidine) very often will give relief.

Frequent acid reflux (gerd) should be managed by a physician, as it can lead to barrett's esophagus. This condition, where the lining of the lower esophagus changes to stomach-like lining can lead to esophageal cancer.
