Not permanent: But will be slow to resolve. Adapalene, if you can get it, is good for this and is OTC in US. Retinol might help but tretinoin will do much more. Controlling the acne is essential.

Moisturizers help: When acne creams or gels are strong on the face, and there is facial irritation or inflammation, twice a day moisturizing cream helps. Patients with much irritation find that over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream twice a day for one week, can make a big difference. One can talk with one's primary care doctor about the acne creams, to see if some of them can be used less often but still work.

Frequency matters: If you used just a single application, you may not be able to tolerate this strength of benzoyl peroxide. If it took a few days before this reaction developed, you can try a decreased frequency of use, such as every 2, 3, or 4 days.

No: Some people are allergic to benzoyl peroxide.  It is also irritating to some degree for almost everyone.  10% is a high strength, but it doesn't actually work any better than 2.5%.

You should lay off it for a few days, and if you wish to keep using benzoyl peroxide, you could re-try a lower concentration.

Benzoyl peroxide: Do not use tne benzoyl peroxide. Use a moisturizer until your skin returns to normal. Then you can reinstitute the benzoyl peroxide being careful withits application

Hyper pigmentation : It sounds like you have an area of hyper pigmentation after inflammation.  Some folks tend to do this more than others but there are options for treatment.  Brown pigment can respond to lightening creams, IPL, or ablative laser treatments.  Generally with lightening creams the pigment can return upon stopping.  I lean more toward IPL or Laser.  Sometimes it will improve on its own given time.
