RICE: Rest, ice, compression, and elevation are the first line treatments for an ligament injury.  I'd recommend icing for 20 minutes at a time, at least twice a day.  Take 4 advil (ibuprofen) (if you have no stomach problems) 3 times a day with food.  Elevate the foot as much as possible, and wrap with an ACE.  If it feels no better after  couple weeks, i would recommend going in for an x ray to rule out fracture.

Need X-Ray: You may have a fracture of one of the two bones in your big toe. I recommend getting an X-ray to determine the level of fracture for proper treatment and healing. Get to a foot specialist to be evaluated in person as soon as you can and protect your foot!

Bent out of shape.: A bent big toe can be described as angular deviation of the big toe. The "bend" can involve either one or both bones in the toe, the joint between them or possibly the ball of the foot. The bending can occur in any direction, but a side-to-side deviation is probably most common. This type of conditioned can be either be inherited or acquired later in life and may even be considered normal.

Please get examined: Without seeing this, it could be as simple as a wart or callous. It also could be a lesion from a interphanlangeal sesamoid.
Please seek out a podiatrist and let him exam  you, he may need xrays.

Could be but: do you have back pain? Other common causes are infection or celluitis or abscess. Another strong possibitiy could be gout.  If it does not go away you should see your doctor.

Dislocating: It sounds like the toe may be dislocating at the joint.  The pain would come from the toe popping back into place.
It should be examined to see if you are developing an unstable 2nd toe.

Blue green toe: the fact the toe changes color and returns to normal suggests maybe your shoes are too small and maybe bruising. If there is no pain, wouldn't worry too much. Best bet would be to have a foot exam by your local Podiatrist.

It depends: A great toenail takes approximately 9 months to grow back entirely, barring poor circulation or other complications. So the time for a partial nail to fully regrow will depend on the amount of nail remaining.
