Most hypertensive: patients require 3 or 4 different medications to obtain sufficient BP control as they get older. If you want to normalize your blood pressure without medications you will need to lose weight (BMI of 20) exercise daily and limit the sodium content of your diet to less than 1.5 grams a day. It takes very hard work but the benefits of being off medications is worth it. Good luck.

Coenzyme Q1: Coenzyme q10 has very weak blood pressure lowering effects if any. It most likely will not be able to replace the benefits of amlodipine.

At night: Blood pressure is usually the highest in the morning, i suggest to continue to take Benicar (olmesartan) at 7 am and take amlodopine at night or 7 pm for better 24h coverage.

Variable: This a two drug combination the half live for Benicar (olmesartan) is 13 hr &amp; hctz  half live is variable 5.6-14.7 hr. That means that have the dose is metabolized on that time. Several days until it is completely eliminated

Response: Your BP goal should be <140/90. If you have heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease then it should be <130/80. Please go by response and use the smallest dose required to achieve the goals. Lifestyle modification with achieving ideal body weight, increasing exercise, watching salt intake, dash diet and moderation in alcohol intake will help decrease BP and minimize medication usage.
