Many causes...: Nose bleeds in kids can be caused by a number of things. The number one cause by far is nose picking. Dry skin inside the nose can also be a problem (a little vaseline can help). Friable blood vessels in nose can be cause (need to see ENT to get treatment). Lastly, low platelets can cause pretty severe nose bleeds (>20 minutes). Treatment depends on cause of low platelets.

Children with adhd can have social impairment, school failure or academic problems as well as a number of co-morbid conditions such as anxiety, depression, and oppositional defiant disorder. Ped allergy meds: The newer antihistamines generally cause less sedation than older forms. Fexofenadine (allegra) and Loratadine (claritin) are the least sedating. Cetirizine (zyrtec) causes slightly more. All are otc in the usa. Occasionally any antihistamine can cause a paradoxical reaction, hyperness, in children. Decongestants should be avoided in kids. Topical nasal steroids are most effective but require rx.

Effects are short : The effect of magnesium on a newborn are rather short lived. It does produce low muscle tone and can transiently cause breathing irregularities. I have seen some have brief periods of breathing cessation that required monitoring in the level 2 nursery. After the kid starts to urinate it leaves the system quickly & has no long term effect on growth or development.
