Around 7-8 years: There is no perfectly safe age to take a bath alone in a tub, but kids under 4 yrs are at higher risk of drowning. Statistics from a few years ago show that 70-80 kids drown in bathtubs in the U.S. Each year. To be safest, wait until a child has good behavior, some common sense, plus the ability to easily get in and out of a full bathtub before thinking of leaving him alone.  Otherwise, watch him!

And there are risks: infection (germs thrive in that moist environment), severe dehydration, rise in core body temperature possibly leading to infertility in men. An occasional steam bath for relaxation is ok; dry heat/sauna is better.

Is it his sweat ?: One of the most common reasons a kid smells bad can be foreign material stuck in their nose. They smell horrible until the material is removed. If your 4yo kid's sweat really smells it could be a sign of a metabolic problem & you need it checked out. I've had some kids smell a bit odd if they consume a variety of products like aloe juice or from lotions applied to their skin.

Sitting in a tub of soapy/dirty water allows that water to coat her pee hole &amp; enter her vagina. Unless the area is rinsed with clean water before leaving it can trigger itching or urinary problems. A dry tub shower with a sprayer can end this as can just showering.
