Debris in Sockets or: The socket in your jawbone can collect debris until it heals and fills in with bone covered by gum tissue.  In the meantime, your oral surgeon should give you an irrigating syringe to squirt in the hole(s) to keep them clean.  Could also be blood or possibly drainage/infection.  Does it hurt? Getting better or worse?  Any q's, see your dentist.

Infection ?: Dry socket ? Sutures with bacteria ? These are all guesses, and that's not what you want. Call your surgeon to discuss your concerns.

Accepted Answer

No: You need to rinse after eating following the removal of teeth.  Of more importance is how vigorously you rinse.   My patients are advise to rinse lightly after eating or drinking fluids on the day of surgery to remove any residual food particles.  Vigorous rinsing on the day of surgery could cause the loss of the blood clot and should be avoided.

Usually not: The first 3 days are the most critical and as long as you are careful, it shouldn't be a problem. Some stitches do not actually fall out but dissolve. It is always best to check with the dentist who placed the stitches.

is it normal to still have really bad pain on day 6 after wisdom teeth removal? i removed 3 of my wisdom teeth last week monday and the roof of my mouth has a hole now and it's extremely painful.

Dry Socket ?: It is very possible you have a dry socket. Please go back to the oral surgeon who extracted the teeth for a post-op follow up.

No: 1st concern is dry socket.  Your Oral Surgeon is responsible for your post-surgical care.  Return for reevaluation and appropriate treatment.

Not generally: If that's your only problem (pfos sometimes occur with other defects) and are otherwise healthy then it should pose no problem for general anesthesia. However, the dentist (or their anesthesiologist) will most likely have you get a surgical clearance from you doc just to be safe.

Ages of 15 and 24: Dentists typically recommend that wisdom teeth should be removed between the ages of 15 and 24 years. However, there is no set rule regarding a specific age. See your dentist for evaluation, x-ray and treatment if needed. Good luck.
