i just purchased the pre-workout supplement "c4 extreme" and i was wondering if it has any side effects that i should be aware of? thanks in advance.

Yes side effects: Read huffington post article about high school athletes requiring surgery for compartment syndrome.  Look at ingredients of C4 extreme,  if you do not understand the ingredients then avoid them.  Make sure your parents aware of this supplement and ask if any family members have high blood pressure or sudden death.  Please avoid taking this supplement.

i want to know if there are any side effects in using pre-workout    , green coffee extract  and fat burner supplements ?

Accepted Answer

Yes: It depends on the make up of the fat burner supplement.  Many over the counter weight loss supplements have stimulants in them.  If taken in excess, they can cause palpitations, trouble sleeping, nervousness, etc...  I generally do not recommend supplements to lose weight as most are unproven and the best way to lose weight and stay healthy is just plain diet and exercise in moderation.

i was just prescribed sildenafil 50mg for erectile dysfunction. most of the time i work out in the evening and consume a pre workout supplement. i plan to take the sildenafil when i return home from the gym. will this cause negative side effects?

Accepted Answer

: You did not tell us the name of your "pre workout supplement". By my knowledge almost all pre-workout supplements on the market don't interact with sildenafil. Good luck!

Doctor can evaluate: Chest heaviness, chest pain, or shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. An emergency room doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest x-rays may be done. Possible causes include heart attack (rare in the young), partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, reflux, arrhythmia, etc... One should not wait around with such symptoms.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Since the supplement industry is not regulated by the fda, the ingredients in supplements do not necessary have to contain what it claims or more so may have other ingredients not listed.  With that said, having a blood clot does preclude you from having supplements that can affect your clotting ability, such as vitamin k.  If you had a clot in the past, it is important to consult your physician.

C4 pre work out: The main ingredient is creatine, which is not in itself harmful; it also contains caffeine and yohimbe, which can energize and promote tachycardia; other ingredients are generally safe ----- overall, is a safe product - don't overuse it or overdose - not safe then

Yes: Don't know about the urine but you need to know these are not FDA approved because these companies do not do the rigorous testing that is required. There are some actions of these supplements that reduce caloric intake but no product beats your ability to make a choice at each meal about choosing the right food and eating only the amount you need for the  day. Visit your meal on half. Simple.

No free lunch: There's no such thing as a free lunch in medicine. In other words, for any desired benefit from drug or surgery, there's always potential risk but it's not a guarantee of side effect either. OTOH, dietary supplements aren't required to warn you &amp; thus tend to hype &amp; mislead. Studies suggest benefit from turmeric, green tea, ginger, rosemary, cat's claw, devil's claw &amp; willow bark (aspirin). Check

Weight loss drugs: There are numerous weight loss drugs and herbal supplements on the market. However, most physicians and dieticians would recommend healthy eating and exercise over taking any type of drug (which can have side effects, especially herbal supplements that are not regulated by the fda). Weight loss comes from burning off more calories than you eat. Personally, i never recommend diet pills for patients.

No: Supplements marketed to body builders must be used with a strict diet and a large amount of exercise. You must do the work or you won't see any increases in your muscles.
