For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Vaginal Discharge: To get chlamydia - you have to actually be exposed to chlamydia. So, even if you have bacterial vaginosis, if you are never exposed to chlamydia it will not occur. However, chlamydia can cause an abnormal vaginal discharge.

diagnosis is by clinical findings and swabs

Need exam...: If you are having a vaginal discharge, you should see your gyn physician for evaluation.  That is the only way to determine if the discharge is bv, yeast, or an STD.  Especially considering you know you have had sex with someone with an untreated STD - don't delay in getting yourself tested and abstain from sex until you and your partner are treated.  Always use condoms even after treatment.
