Tricky: We must distinguish between pain only when taking a deep breath or cough (pleurisy), deep breath lying down but not sitting up (pericarditis) and primarily with movement of the upper body (muscular or arthritic). A recent or current viral illness could suggest the first 2. If reproducible with movement, the last is suggested. You might want to consult your family doctor.

Chest pain/back pain: Pain in the chest with movement or coughing can sometimes be pleurisy -inflammation of the lining of the chest.   Doesn't sound cardiac.  You can try an antiinflammatory medication to see if it helps  - if you develop a fever it could be the signs of an early pneumonia and chest pain associated with exertion is worrisome for cardiac issues and should be evaluated by a doctor.

See your doctor: Could be a problem with skin, nerves, muscle, shoulder, lung, heart, or stomach. See your doctor for a more thorough history, physical exam and further evaluation. If you sleep on your stomach you could have a neck strain that radiates pain to the chest or arm. Get checked out just to make sure.

Always possible: Costochondritis is always possible given your age. It will be uncommon to cause back pain, though. If you have a clearly delineated area where by just pressing lightly you can reproduce or worsen the pain, your pain is most likely musculoskeletal. Otherwise would suggest seeing your doc for a detailed exam and diagnosis.

what could cause my ribs to constantly pop out of place? causes lots of chest pain & back pain. i get adjusted regularly but they revert soon after.

Rib problem: If your ribs are truly "popping out of place" this may be seen in patients with hypermobility syndrome or other conditions in which there is laxity of the connective tissues. I recommend seeing a rheumatologist and would be happy to do a consult if needed.
