They have been: Chances are they have been at every visit in the 3rd trimester. Maybe they haven't done an ultrasound to check, but by measuring the size of your uterus, & watching the interval growth, they are monitoring the baby's growth, as accurately as if they were getting ultrasounds every visit! the error margin for an ultrasound measurement is so high, we only use it when the outside msr is off.

i'm 37 weeks and had my appointment today. doctor says she can feel my babies head and i'm 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. lots of contractions too. ?

Possible labor: If you are having those "cramps" or better say contractions very frequently( especially every 5-10 mins) it is time to get checked for progression. We cannot determine with certainty exactly at what point you will be in active labor since this varies from person to person. If you are having pain as often mentioned call your OB provider.

i am 37 weeks pregnant and am 1 1/2 centimeters dialated i have had constant contractions for 3 weeks and i have had the steroid shots for the babies lungs is it safe to take castor oil to induce labor i can't sleep get sick when i eat and am in pain from

No. : No. You should not take castor oil prior to reaching your due date. Remember that your baby is 2 weeks younger than the number of weeks that you are pregnant. Your baby is not ready to be born.
Once your due date has arrived, you may consult your doctor about taking castor oil to induce pregnancy. Do not do this without consulting your doctor. Remember that castor oil is a laxative. It has a bad taste, can cause abdominal cramping, diarrhea and vomiting. If you do not want to feel these symptoms, then you should avoid this.
Talk to your doctor about things to do to help you be more comfortable. It is very common for women to be uncomfortable during the last few weeks of pregnancy. Your baby needs more time in your tummy.

Probably will be OK: Most babies born between 36-37 weeks will be fine. A small percentage of babies can have problems with breathing room air, maintain their body temperature, remembering to swallow when they suck. They're at greater risk for jaundice which can require special lights to resolve. Just because you're having pressure doesn't mean you'll deliver early. Make sure to eat, drink lots of water and rest.

Hard to be sure: The antibodies built during pregnancy are pushed into baby at a level higher per pound than mom retains. That said, all such antibodies begin to age out and become less effective with time. By 3-6 mo there is little if any left. Since there are always a few more flu strains circulating than the ones they can put in the vaccine, it is important to avoid exposure as the primary form of prevention

Usually is: Babies usually have bore blood cells/weight at birth than adult because they are switching from womb cells to air breathing cells. Their system also cannot keep up with the rapid weight gain for months, so their cell count is higher at birth &amp; becomes a bit anemic by 6mo. The flush appearance is often from this normal feature. A simple blood count confirms it.

Concerning: For preterm labor.  You should have your cervix checked by your doctor.  When you have a short interval between pregnancies, this does increase the risk of preterm delivery.

Let baby set schedul: Any baby that is well hydrated can be left alone to sleep as long as 8 or more hours. Their intestines has food they are continuing to digest ; use during this period ; if baby can deal with it ; thrive there is no reason to wake her.Babies don't sleep more than 4 hr without cycling to a lighter sleep state so the fact that yours can settle back ; sleep longer is wonderful.
