if an infant is exposed to black mold for four months, and is only five months, what can that cause? is it a long-term exposure?

No problem: There are 500, 00 molds and half of them are black. Unless there is an active breathing problem at this time, there is not going to be any long term problem.

Black mold: They would have significant respiratory issues if it has been a  problem for them

: The intestinal gas (farting) may be due to large intake of insoluble fiber undergoing fermentation in the intestine. It should be a transient matter and is not likely to cause any lasting damage, as long as you are not immunosuppressed.

Gastritis: May have gastritis or stomach acid problem
may try zantac (ranitidine) 150 twice a day or Prilosec 20 once a days.

: Depends on the mold. Discuss with your local health care team as they will know which molds are a problem in WA.  I generally do not recommend eating moldy food other than good cheeses.

: You should not eat it but one accidental ingestion of that cup will unlikely endanger your health in the long term. In general, most moldy foods should be discarded. Take care.

when a food in a jar got bad (rotten or got mold on it) i throw the food rinse the jar and wash it in dishwasher. is it ok?

Accepted Answer

: Once the rotten food is removed and the jar is sanitized it should be ok to use. If overly concerned you can sterilize it in a pot of boiling water.

can draining food over a pan which has been soaking for twelve hours be harmful to health? can mold get onto the food from the pan?

Accepted Answer

Your question is: ambiguous. Did you drain excess fluid from the food into the pan or put food into the pan when it had dirty water in it?  You shouldn't cook food in water that has been sitting in a dirty pan for 12 hours. But its okay if you washed the pan thoroughly with dish detergent and hot water before using it to prepare food.  And YES, mold can grow anywhere food's been sitting around long enough.

Mold and diet: Yes, in more serious cases, mold and yeasty products can affect you such as vinegar, fresh baked bread etc. Go on the net and there are lists helping you reduce mold and yeast in foods. See if you feel better by following this for a few weeks.
