after i ate sweet, i have swollen soft palate in the morning with phlegm. and the next day i have swollen throat but i dont feel anything else, i dont have fever or runny nose. will it affect my baby? im 23 weeks pregnant.

Accepted Answer

Throat swelling: The ingestion of "sweet" nutrition and the symptoms described are coincidental.  You may have a minor viral upper respiratory infection, but will not affect a 23 week pregnancy.  If a temperature elevation and more profound symptoms occurs, of course see your OB provider.

can it hurt the baby if i'm 23 weeks pregnant and cut my finger while cutting raw beef? i washed well afterwards with antibacterial soap and water.

Accepted Answer

Cut finger: It is unprobable  that a cut would in anyway effect your pregnancy.  You treated the wound well, and you can stop worrying about the baby.

my placenta is located in anterior middle segment during 23 weeks pregnancy, does that mean its a boy?

Accepted Answer

No: the position of the placenta has no relationship with fetal sex.

i had a water break at 23 weeks pregnancy did i commit any mistake? i had no infection but i feel guilty all the time? is it due to carelessness?

Accepted Answer

Not your fault.: I do not know the whole story, but it would be highly unlikely that anything you might have done could have caused the premature membrane rupture. Before you try for pregnancy again, meet with a maternal fetal medicine specialists so they can review your story in detail.

i've had two pregnancies that ended in which both babies heart just stopped beating one at 23 weeks one at 27 weeks. im 10wks pregnant now will this repeat?

Not necessarily: You most probably would have an another preterm baby, because the probability with having two prior preterm deliveries is getting higher. But it is not necessarily that the cause of preterm delivery would be the heart issues, unless you have a family history of it, or prior babies had the inherited heart diseases. You have to have a close follow up with your obstetrician anyway for that reason.

muscle aches in my back, hips, legs and hands in 23 weeks pregnancy is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  Maybe.  : Back pain, joint pain, thigh and calf pain are common.   You can have pain from swelling of the hands - carpal tunnel like.  Make sure your doctor follows you blood pressures.

Pregnancy: Fetus gees to sleep sometimes, if no movement in next 24 hours please see your OB doctor.

Very normal: AT 23 weeks you should definitely be feeling lots of movements...maybe not quite as much in terms of ACCELERATION as you did 5-6 weeks ago but still quite active.  You should feel movements all the way to the end but it will get a bit slower from about 28 weeks to birth.

Still somewhat early: Feral movement really states regular after 24 weeks. At times, lack of perceived movement early-on may simply be due to distractions. Try to lie down, and rest your hand over uterus to feel movement. It is unclear if "sweet drinks" increase fetal movement or not, but not harmful if you don't have diabetic issues. If lack of movement is persistent, call your OB for a visit.

i am currently 23 weeks pregnant and have only gained 4 pounds. is this ok for me and the baby?

Accepted Answer

Depends: That depends on your starting weight and nutritional status. Underweight women may need to gain extra. Overweight women may need to gain none. Individualized counseling is needed. Ask your doctor what appropriate goals and expectations are for you.
