Depends: People with cirrhosis can live many years, but once they start developing complication of ascites (fluid build up in belly), confusion (hepatic encephalopathy), varices (vomiting blood) or liver cancer, the life expectancy is much less. The way to increase your life expectancy is to have a liver doctor help manage the above, and to stop drinking alcohol as you can possibly heal your liver.

Highly variable: Portal hypertension is secondary to cirrhosis and does not cause it. Your life expectancy and stability are dependent upon the cause of your liver damage and whether or not the active disease has been interrupted by therapy. Good luck.

Depends: Regarding his diagnosis, stage 1 is early and likely reversible with weight loss, excercise, and a good diet.   Avoiding alcohol abuse and getting vaccinated against hepatitis b is also as good idea.   It is not end-stage liver disease.  Life expectancy could be totally normal.

Depends: The life expectancy of a person with cardiomyopathy(cm) depends on several variables.What is the cause of the cm?What is the amount of damage to the heart muscle?-usually reflected in a measurement of the heart's pumping ability known as an ejection fraction (the normal minimum is ~50-55%).A person's functional status is also important-are they very symptomatic on maximum therapy or barely on none.

Depends: It is always difficult to determine life expectancy of anyone with any type of chronic illness like hiv/aids. There are very good anti-hiv medications, which can extend life.  Many of my patients who have had full-blown aids are still living 20+ years, but some have also died soon after diagnosis.  It ultimately depends on one's immune system and how quickly they can recover before getting sick.
