No: It will not.  The baby is protected by the bag of water it is floating in, and it does an excellent job of protecting the babies ears.

if a patient wanted to be induced early to avoid a difficult delivery of a large infant, how unusual will it be to induce at less than 36 weeks?

Accepted Answer

Extremely: No doctor should consider this based on current guidelines.  You should be evaluated for causes of a large infant.  Elective delivery should not be performed prior to 39 weeks. Estimated size is not an appropriate indication for early delivery due to the inaccuracy inherent in estimating fetal weight.  Size may be considered when deciding the route of delivery.

i am 38 .i have triplets pregnancy for 7week.i'm worried this situation. is that possible that three babies carring for 36 weeks.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Most will end up in labor earlier and deliver by urgent C-section, but some get lucky. I had one mom carry to 37 wks with triplets &amp; all did well. Just make sure you maintain good communication with your delivery team so they can work with you to get as far as possible.

i'm 36 weeks pregnant and i just listened to my babies heartrste on the packet fetal doppler i have at home and it read 194. should i be concerned?

Heart beat accelerat: When the baby moves at this point of the pregnancy, the heart rate goes up. This is called an acceleration and is a good thing. It should settle back down soon afterwards to the normal range. If it stays elevated and you are having pain or fever, you should contact your OB right away.

Likely hiccups: Some have speculated that the close position of the babies stomach to the diaphragm causes a rubbing that triggers the hiccups.This is common &amp; generally continues on through the first months after birth. Once the child grows longer &amp; the stomach can drop away from the diaphragm the frequency declines. It bothers mom's more than the baby.Not a seizure!

Maybe,maybe not: Call your OB 's service or go directly to labor & delivery to be evaluated. This may be early labor & needs to be stopped if possible. At least get it checked.

Hard to be sure: The antibodies built during pregnancy are pushed into baby at a level higher per pound than mom retains. That said, all such antibodies begin to age out and become less effective with time. By 3-6 mo there is little if any left. Since there are always a few more flu strains circulating than the ones they can put in the vaccine, it is important to avoid exposure as the primary form of prevention

Fetal growth ?'s: Fetal size of "2.2 kg." is within range of normal for 36 weeks of pregnancy, especially if your family history includes a lower than average birth weights at term.  Ask your OB physician for nutritional additives, but the condition may turn out to be a genetic variant.

: The average weight varies, and at 37 weeks gestational age, the weight gain may be in the range of 100 to 200 grams. If you are otherwise healthy and prenatal visits are fine, discuss feeding, newborn exam and vaccinations at the time of delivery.  There are many resources for new parents.
