Magenblase syndrome is postprandial epigastric fullness &amp; bloating, relieved by belching. Aerophagia (accumulation of gas due to air swallowing) is common with anxiety, hypersalivation from gum chewing, smoking, drinking, oral irritation. Both acid &amp; bile reflux possible too.

Thus, vomiting apparatus responds to a variety of GI &amp; brain inputs.

Burping: You may be forming excessive gas or may not have normal transit of just normal amounts of gas. Forcing yourself to burp only causes you to swallow more air which aggregates the problem. Take simethicone after meals to prevent gas buildup. Drinking hot water breaks gas down and moves it along, also. See your MD or a gastroenterologist as needed.

Swallowed air: Babies often swallow air during feeding.  Depending on your baby you should burp between sides (if breastfeeding) or about halfway through if bottle feeding.  This removes the air from the baby's stomach and allows them to finish eating comfortably.  You want to make sure that at the end of a feeding the stomach is filled with milk not air!

May be acid reflux: B. May b symptom assoc w/ acid reflux which can b aggravated by caffeine, sour/acidic, spicy, greasy foods, as well as alcohol, tomatoes, bellpepper, or late night snacks. It may also b associated w/ gastritis or irritation of the lining of the stomach.  Aspirin, advil (ibuprofen) & other antiinflammatories may worsen this.Try modifying diet, acid reducer e.g. Prilosec, & stop aspiri/advil (ibuprofen). C doc if not better.

Giardia: I would be highly suspicious of giardia, which is often found to contaminate freshwater sources--streams? Wells? It is well known to cause burping that has a foul egg or sulfur like smell. This can be easily treated. Please contact your doctor so it can be properly treated.
