Unlikely: Autoimmune disease rare to be able to tell on MRI or ct.  You may see signs of the disease and then can infer possible relationship.

41 yr old f, new dx mctd/fibro/sjogrens & early scleroderma. visible lymph nodes in rear sides and back of neck (hairline & ear to shoulder; not jaw like they check) will these stay forever w autoimmune disease or something to look into further?

: You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!

i have been diagnosed with autoimmune disease but are not which type because my kidneys, liver and thyroid test came back normal. which one can it be? i also have prenecious anemia and large red blood cells.

Pernicious anemia: is a form of AUTOIMMUNE disease BY ITSELF and does not NECESSARILY mean that your thyroid, kidneys and/or other organs are involved!!!

Lymph nodes: Swollen lymph nodes are a reaction to inflammation and this can vary from infection to cancer to other problems, autoimmune disease can also cause swollen lymph nodes. Neck nodes tend to swell up frequently, from teeth issues, sinuses, skin inflammation, etc.

No: Almost everyone has a few palpable neck nodes. They are almost always your friends. Disease here she's as very large nodes, very hard nodes, or nodes stuck to surrounding structures.

i have a little vitiligo on my glans that never spreaded with time. father has psoriasis. now i have neck and joint pain. autoimmune disease?

Not necessarily.: The vitiligo may not be important since it hasn't changed, but with the family.history of.psoriasis if the neck and joint pain continue   It would be wise to get examined.

i have a rare autoimmune disease and have had ct scans for three yrs. of chest/abs pelvis now i have pulsatile tinnitus i had cta,ctv,(both contrast)head/neck.angiogram head/neck.now having ct of temporal bone.is this a lot of radiation.i am 65 tyou?

: It is more than usual but does not seem to be too much radiation. Pl discuss in future this concern with both the ordering MD and the radiologist. Many CTs can be done with low dose now. Good luck.

is it possible to have nothing wrong your thyroid, but still have an autoimmune disease?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Autoimmune thyroid disease can manifest as an enlarged thyroid, abnormal thyroid antibodies on lab testing, sometimes nodular thyroid, and yet thyroid function can be normal, low, or high.  Thyroid functions would be indicated by tsh, t4, T3 (liothyronine) levels.  Thyroid ultrasound would look for nodules.  There is no treatment for the autoimmune part, but abnormal thyroid function or nodules can be treated.
