Early symptoms include hearing loss, ringing in the ears, and vertigo. These tumors grow very slowly, and are treated with surgery or with radiation only if hearing is affected.

i had a hemi thyroidectomy (right side) because i had a tumor. shouldn't i be on medication if now the left one is enlarged and overcompensating ? i

Need Blood Test/ultr: You need a ultrasound and tsh, freet4, T3 (liothyronine) levels and you may or may not need a boipsy of the left lobe of thyroid to find the proper treatment
consult your endocrinologist if you have not done so.

Seek Oncologist: It is difficult to give you a simple answer. Cancer can be treated with surgery(where possible,without losing function) or Radiotherapy.Only an eye specialist(Ophthalmologist) can guide you further. A team of an oncologist and Ophthalmologist together can help this patient.

my prolactin was lowered to 5 with cabergoline, no tumor, how long before
i can stop the medication?

Depends: If your prolactin was elevated due to another medication, which you're no longer taking - you may not need the cabergoline. Otherwise, your doctor may elect a trial where you stop the medication and follow prolactin levels. Most commonly, they will rise after a period of time, necessitating reinitiation of the cabergoline.

is a high platelet count of 457 a cause for concern? i had a benign tumor removed 8 months ago, and the rest of my bloodwork came back normal. i am on no medication and have no known conditions?

: Low odds.
Some worrisome symptoms and signs of brain tumor: recurring headache in mornings,  unstable gait, disruption in coordination, motor weakness, cranial nerve palsy, and seizure.  Careful neurological exam should be the first step.  I would recommend him to be examined by his PCP.

since, wont prolactin lower now minus

Possibly: You may have a small tumor that can't be seen on x-ray. Or, you may have elevated prolactin due to medication, although xanax (alprazolam) is not a common offender. Talk w/your physician or an endocrinologist.
