Accepted Answer

No: The only long term side effect you should be worried about is if the pep didn't work and you still ended up infected.  As to the side effects of atripla, they go away as soon as you stop taking the medication.

can lunesta and, or, restoril be taken long term?  which has fewer side effects?  are lunesta and, or restoril apt to help you be able to sleep longer

For short-term use: Both of these drugs are prescribed to treat insomnia, and both warn to take at lowest dose for shortest time needed.  Long-term use increases risk of dependency and raising dosages increases risk of side effects.  Both warn that you must taper dose to discontinue after long term use, or risk serious side effects.  Consider CBT psychotherapy for insomnia,  more effective than relying on a pill!

does long term use of pvp-i solution cause serious side effects (e.g. organ damage - besides thyroid dysfunction)? i have used betadine for scalp folliculitis everyday for 2 years. i know its not recommended to use it for longer than 10 days?

: You should not worry much if thyroid and kidney function are normal.

Similar, minor diffe: The long term side effects are numerous depending on the individuals, duration, and dose.  Major ones: Osteoporosis, cataract, diabetes, hypertension, adrenal suppression (stop working altogether) . Some may have glaucoma. Weight gain at the belly and face, acne etc. Some immune suppression can be expect with high doses for months.
Prednisone has less sodium-retention effects (less low potassium)

The : The goal of HIV therapy is to lower the viral counts. The more consistently you take your medication the more you are likely to achieve that goal. If you have resumed taking it and plan to on a regular basis the long term effects are likely to be small to negligible.

Why would it?: I presume that you are taking atripla to treat your condition and thus don't understand why using a drug to control your disease condition would hurt your body (unless you are allergic or intolerant to one of the ingredients) .  It has nothing to do with your lupus.

Depends: If you threw up shortly after the dose, and especially if you see the pill in the emesis, then you should take another pill.  However, if you threw up an hour after taking the pill, you probably shouldn't. There's no real danger in taking an extra dose, but you may experience more neurologic side effects (vivid dreams, dizziness, morning "fogginess").

Not a problem: Dietary supplements are ok to take while on atripia- just dont't take them at the same time during the day.

betwee atripla and complera (emtricitabine and rilpivirine and tenofovir) which one is the best?

Accepted Answer

Pros and cons: Atripla is a bit stronger but has more side effects. We use Complera (emtricitabine and rilpivirine and tenofovir) in people whose viral loads are below 100, 000 and whose CD4 counts are above 200.  Take Complera (emtricitabine and rilpivirine and tenofovir) with a meal, and don't take it with medications that reduce stomach acid.  If you're viral load is higher than that, you could take atripla, though i often prefer stribild, another single-tablet regimen that's better tolerated.
