Clinical trials: There are several new meds that are in clinical trials for the highest grade astrocytic brain tumors (gbm). The rtog groups run several clinical trials testing out different medications. There are also some multicenter trials for vaccines against the gbm. Finally, novocure is a recently fda approved option for the treatment of recurrent high grade astrocytic tumors. It uses electric field therapy.

Not a simple answer: The type of drug to treat a metastatic brain tumor depends on the type of tumor.  Drugs to treat metastatic breast cancer are very different than those used to treat malignant melanoma which are different than those used to treat lung cancer metastasis to the brain.

You should seek consultation with a neurologist, MRI of the brain is a good test to check for a brain tumor.

We have better surgery, radiotherapy and better medical therapies for treating brain tumors now than even 5 years back. There have been new medicines introduced in last 10 years. So there is definitely some progress, yet gbm continues to be a very virulent cancer with few survivor.

Yes: Depending on the type of tumor and location, brain tumors can be treatable and/or curable, but often the treatment is difficult and true cure is not attained. Typical treatment involves some combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
