She can only get pregnant when she ovulates and there are ovulation kits one can buy to determine this timer period. Also, do not masturbate or ejaculate for 4 to 5 days prior to having sex at the time of ovulation and then have as many orgasms as possible during this time.

Menopause: There could be some problems. You may be in male menopause and not producing many fresh sperm or your wife could be going into menopause and not be as fertile as normal.  After six months it may be time to get more extensive testing done.

The ideal time: to get pregnant is 14 days before the expected start of her period. At 23 and 26, however, you have plenty of time for this to happen. Have fun, relax. 
Masturbation is fine also. If may slightly reduce the quantity of semen or the concentration of sperm but a little bit is unlikely to hurt your chances.

YES: Not having sex be a spontaneous event and becoming too obscessed to have sex at specified times will surely decrease your sex drive. Talk to your doctor about being discouraged, have fun when you have sex, and hang in there because if you are being treated for fertility issues there is hope for you that other less fortunate couples would love to have!

Need more info: The fact that your mother had two miscarriages might indicate that she had some type of genetic abnormality that was passed on to those embryos, but she was able to carry other pregnancies to term.  That is reassuring.
Most couples (95%) will be pregnant after no protection for 1.5 years.  It may be time to begin a fertility work-up.

First, you: Mayyou may want to see a doctor, for there are many problems and many medications.  As well, you may need a semen analysis, 40% of the time it can be a male issue.  Good luck.
