Sperm inserted: A semen sample is processed in a lab to remove semen and just leave the sperm. The processed sperm is drawn up into a thin tube (called a catheter) which is inserted through the cervix and into the uterus. The sperm are then injected at the top of the uterus near the Fallopian tubes at time of ovulation. This increases the odds of pregnancy in appropriate candidates for insemination.

Simple: The sperm is washed and prepared in advance to so that any chemicals in the fluid around the sperm are removed. Then the sperm is placed in a small catheter and that catheter is placed into the cervix through a speculum. This is done in the office and usually takes about 2 minutes or less. The cost is variable to each practice but likely averages about $500.

Uncertain: If you are talking about using a sperm donor--- then in most states until you are officially divorced your husband will be considered the father of the child.  Most rei clinics will not use donor sperm in this case without your soon to be ex-husband's permission  or until the divorce is final.

Yes: You can undergo intrauterine insemination (iui) without having had intercourse.  Iui is a simple procedure that is not much more than a pap smear, so as long as you can have a speculum inserted into your vagina, you can have an IUI done.

Insemination: That is easy - just look for a reproductive endocrinologist in your area, use google. Also you can ask your regular gyn doctor to recommend one. Set up an appointment and they will walk you through it. Good luck!
