Depends: You should see your doctor for evaluation in person. Arthritis is talking about bones and joints, spasm is talking about muscles, so there may be something else going on and you need to be seen in order to sort this out.

Depends on arthritis: It depends on which type of arthritis you have. Osteoarthritis, which is very common for example in the knees can be linked to obesity and part of the recommendations is weight loss/exercise for this. Rheumatoid arthritis needs to be started on specific medications called DMARD's and gout for example another type of arthritis can be treated with NSAID's, colchicine, prednisone and/or others.

Depends: There are different kinds of arthritis. Osteoarthritis is more common. Medications do not help the arthritis, but help manage the symptoms. In rheumatoid arthritis, there are medications that can help the arthritis and delay its progression. A rheumatologist is the best person to consult for this.

We don't know: Gelatin contains collagen, which helps make up our bones. Some people have said that it helps them but we don't have good studies that shows gelatin works for arthritis.

Yes: Start with an anti-inflammatory diet, then add anti-inflammatory foods such as turmeric (the yellow in curry), or curry, ginger, rosemary, (organic) apple skins, onions and get rid of pro-inflammatory foods, especially refined ones like sugar and flour.  A supplement called same  (800-1600 mg/day) plus b complex works as well as celebrex, (celecoxib) not right away, but after 2 months. Dont take if bipolar.

Mobility: Arthritis of all forms tends to rob you of your joint motion.  As a result the soft tissue envelope around the joint then also get tight.  I would recommend stretching around the affected joint as well as the joint above and below.  Both static and dynamic stretching are helpful as well as active assisted stretching.

how to ease arthritis pain, using minimal pain medications?

Mixed modalities.: Take 3-omega fatty acids as fish or flaxseed oil (my preference!).  You should take enough  to take 1500-2000mg per day. Regular flaxseed oil is less expensive and has more omega-3, which is antiinflammtory! take adequate vitamin d3, at least 2000/day with calcium. Gentle atraumatic exercises like yoga, cardio-dancing, pilates helps.  Take ibuprophen or naproxen. These will help, but not remit!

Depends on type: Treatment of arthritis depends on the type of arthritis.  For osteoarthritis the primary treatment is quadriceps strengthening exercise.
