No cure, in most.: Unfortunately, arthritis can only be controlled, not cured at this time. Infectious arthritis is an exception but for RA, Psoriatic arthritis, gout, lupus, etc. there is no cure.

Age?: If you are below 40, you need a CRP done.  Most doctors order a b27 tests when looking for inflammatory disease, but this is an error, since many other "hla" types are associated with this.  Core stengthening will help.  But you experience pain at night or pain and stiffness in the morning, it is probably inflammation. If the reverse is true-mechanical, even though your x-rays are "negative.".

Joint space narrowing, (from joint cartilage loss); 2. Joint periarticular osteopenia, (from increased blood flow); 3. Osteophytes. Joint arthritis is secondary to 1. Degeneration, (wear ; tear); 2. Autoimmune inflammation; 3. Crystal deposition.

Depends on severity: Mild or early degenerative arthritis may not show any visible deformity. As it gets more severity, joint deformity will be more visible. Rheumatoid, when severe, can be quite disfiguring of the hands/arms etc.. It is often not obvious for back arthritis but can be seen by xray/ct etc...Your doc can show you your xray results--something like an xay picture here, as example. Good luck.
