It is possible.: If the thyroid hormone dose is too high you might have an increased appetite. If the dose is adjusted appropriately (normal tsh), it would be very unlikely to effect appetite.

Not Recommended: The main reason physicians will tell you not to use it, it that since 2002, the american association of clinical endocrinologists does not recommend the use of desiccated thyroid for thyroid replacement therapy for hypothyroidism (baskin, 2002). In general, 
desiccated thyroid hormone, does not provide a uniform amounts of levothyroxine.

Weeks: Depending on how low your thyroid level was, and how much Armour Thyroid you are taking, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to correct the thyroid level and feel improved.  If you are not feeling better despite a normal thyroid level, there is probably another reason for your symptoms.

Yes: The new formula apparently complies with the fda guidelines. Some people have liked the new formula, others have not and most note little or not difference.

Armour Thyroid: Some people say that Armour Thyroid is better, but really it is just different.   Armour is a physiological mix of T3 (liothyronine) and T4 in the form of an extract of pig thyroid gland.   

Levothyroxin is a synthetic T4.

It is true that some patients do feel better on Armour.  Some patients feel better on Levothyroxine.    The synthetic T4s can cause more of an increase in reverse T3 (liothyronine).

Go see your doctor: Tell your doc (whoever prescribed Armour Thyroid) what you've noted. Thyroid replacement, whether levothyroxine or dried pig thyroid, shouldn't negatively impact your sex drive. However, that assumes you're really taking what you think you are and not be contaminated by some unmonitored dietary supplement. Or perhaps you have a pituitary cause for both hypothyroidism &amp; hypogonadism. So go see doc
