i have a non cancerous tumor on my thyroid that's causing me pain. how likely is my surgeon going to just remove the thing and get this over with?

Need more info: The thyroid nodule and pain may not be related. Many people have thyroid nodules without pain. Your doctor needs to ascertain the cause and nature of pain as surgery may not be warranted.

im 38 yo and i recently had a non cancerous tumor removed off of my thyroid. i have burning pain all over my body; i thought the tumor was causing the pain but since it's been removed i still have the pain. what could be causing my pain? i'm on oxy?

: Do you have hypothyroidism? If there are no issues with your thyroid function, you may want to be seen by a neurologist to see if there is any neurologic basis to your pain. That would be a reasonable next step if this pain is not getting better. Good luck to you1

can a wbs after radioactive iodine identify other tumors elsewhere in body? what info is determined after this scan in those with thyroid cancer?

Only thyroid: It is aimed at detecting tumor outside the thyroid bed.  If neg you are cancer free, eagle.

Blood test : The only true and diagnostic way of telling if you have cancer is not by blood test, images, CT scans. The only way is by biopsy of the tissue of concern either by CT guided, FNA, or surgical resection. By doing this a pathologist can determine the severity and aggressiveness of the cancer and specifically the type of cancer so an oncologist can modify chemotherapy to target the cancer type.

i have a  hard lump on/above my collarbone. i have symptoms that point to thyroid cancer. i talked to a guy that claimed to be a stna and he said it was a tumor off of looking at pictures of it and asking a few questions. im just 16 so hospitals no?

Children : Children grinding their teeth is quite normal and not indicative of a tumor in and of itself.

You should see his pediatrician regarding the random nosebleeds and migranes.

does an x-ray detect a tumor/cancer in the neck?

Not exactly: X-rays help you detect abnormalities such as a mass that is not normal but they do not tell you what that mass is.  In order to figure this out you need to have a biopsy.  The tissue obtained at the time of a biopsy is then reviewed by a pathologist who can help identify whether the mass is consistent with cancer.  Other imaging tests like ct scans or MRI can be more helpful in delineating anatomy.

what happens if you had cancerous tumors around your jaw and neck?

? more information: I assume that you may have a tumor of your jaw with spread to lymph nodes in your neck.  Hopefully, you are under the care of a good cancer surgeon, medical and radiation oncologists.  This is a serious situation but likely noy hopeless with proper treatment.  Good luck!
