Not necessarily: The figure 1:182 is used in conjunction with other findings  to assess the risk.  Your age, your family history, ultrasound findings and many other factors come into play.  No single result can determine with certainty that your baby has DS short of amniocentesis or chorionic villous biopsy chromosome analysis.  Please discuss your concerns with your OB and ask for clarification of all tests

Yes: The diagnostic test for Down syndrome is a fetal chromosome analysis or karyotype with fetal cells obtained by either chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis.  Both tests have complication risks.  There are less invasive tests using ultrasound and blood tests that can suggest an elevated risk, but they only assess risks and are not diagnostic.

No but recommended: Because many babies with down's syndrome also have cardiac or other anomalies, it is recommended to screen for those abnormalities in order to be prepared for the inherent problems at the time of delivery.

Could be: there may be a one-in-five chance of a false positive or even a one-in-two chance, depending on the mother’s age. If the panorama is negative, then it was likely that the penta test did not screen properly.

depends on the test: Depends on what test you had, if you have an integrated screen pr the older AFP blood test it gives you odds of downs like 1 out of some number, the only definite test is an amniocentesis, if you have further ?S you should be talking to your obgyn like i always talk with my patients so they understand everything.
