About 10%: Reports of depression - i've never heard of permanent complaints. But this is an issue to discuss with your doctor. Try not to think of it as being forever - that will only make it worse.  See the doctor asap - stop the medication and follow recommendations to treat the side effects. Always ask about risks and alternatives in the future. It makes life harder, but it's so important.

Not necessarily: Going on and coming off of antidepressant can have consequences. Going on can result in a brief period of dreams or nightmares that clears quickly. Coming off of antidepressants can have a resurgence of the dreaming which goes away, but true withdrawal symptoms can also occur. If depression shows up after you have been off of the antidepressant, most likely it's a return of your depression.

Maybe: Lamotrigine is an anti seizure medication also used to help people with bipolar disorder have fewer severe mood episodes.  Duloxetine is an snri antidepressant that can help treat symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as pain.  Lamotrigine has been associated with a rare but dangerous rash and duloxetine can cause sexual side effects, weight gain and sedation.

: Those side effects are secondary to hormonal change. Just give her some time to get used to this change. If symptoms are not improved in a couple months, she can try a different drug such as minipill or a different method of contraception. Unfortunately, you can't do much about the side effects. You can only help if she decides to get off the pill and you use the protection with condom instead.

The trend: What is the trend? First -be aware that it can take 4 to 6 weeks to get the full effect of the Lustral.  If you are finding that overall - there is less depressed time - that is a positive. Sometimes with depression - it is one step forward &amp; two steps back.

Depends: Currently there is no miracle over the counter for depression.  St. John's wort was previously thought to be effective, but hasn't been consistently proven.  Also, dosages in over the counter preparations can be very variable since they're not regulated.  If you are vitamin deficient(d, b12), or omega-3 deficient ("good fats"), you may or may not feel better by supplementing.
