are tampons good for clots?

Ok for clots: Tampons work best for menstrual periods that are mostly blood and smaller clots.  Tampons may not work as well when a woman is having very heavy periods or large clots.  However see if it works ok for you.  A tampon will not stop you from having clots.

why would i have a severely heavy period after not having one since august. i am using super plus absorbency tampons and they are only good for 30-45 minutes and this has now been going on for 6 days with a lot of blood clots.

You : You need to see your primary care provider or visit your local urgent care center. Persistent heavy vaginal bleeding needs to be worked up. You could be having a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, etc. Also you are at risk for anemia. 
Please seek care right away.

See your Gyno: This amount of menses is not normal, please see your doctor.  This has many causes.  Different causes for different age groups.  If in your reproductive age think: miscarriage, pco syndrome with endometrial hyperplasia, dub, endometrial polyps etc.  If in your post reproductive years , it might be uterine fibroids, sub mucous fibroid, dub, anovulatory cycle and rule out endometrial cancer.

Excessive bleeding: Pregnancy should be checked for. Any gum bleed or excessive bleeding on minor cuts? Clots form if blood stays at one place for some time. Check for anemia, if hematocrit and red cell size low, check iron.if no irregular or after sex bleeding, only during periods without anemia or iron deficiency, you should be fine . See the gynecologist to look for fibroids etc.

Go see doc: This is unusual and raises concerns for your health.  1) why the continous menstrual cycle?  2) are you anemic?. Please go see ob/gyn asap, this is not a problem that can be evaluated or treated online.

Bleeding: It could be beginning of your menstrual flow but if you have concerns about possible pregnancy then take a pregnancy test.

Call doc ASAP : If you continue to bleed that much it could be dangerous. Dizziness? Shortness of breath? Chest pain? More bleeding? Call your doc now or go to emergency department. Unlikely because of the leep last june.

Pregnant?: If your period was much lighter and if you had unprotected sex you may want to check a pregnancy test

i am experiencing a longer period then normal, it has lasted for 12 days. at first the period was very light but now i am having to change my tampon every 30 minutes and i am experiencing heavy clots. i have been in the worse pain however this period?
