Probably not: Those who like to use marijuana for medical purposes say marijuana has pain-relieving and inflammation-reducing properties. They say mj is useful for treating rheumatoid arthritis. However, it is unknown whether or not mj is less effective or has worse side effects than the currently available legal prescription and over-the-counter medicines; which have known purities, ingredients, and effects.

URTI and flares: A possibility but not definitive or highly probable. Flares can be triggered by many and any things. Drink plenty of fluids/electrolytes  and rest a lot  which helps mitigate flares. Good luck

Probably not: Pain  in the last joint of your fingeris typical of osteoarthritis (o.A.) which would be more common at your age. Sometimes people even get little lumps at that last finger joint called  heberdeen's nodes.
R.A. Tends to cause more soft tissue swelling with inflammation; the joints might actuaaly look a little red and be tender or warm. O.A. Can cause stiffness particularly after rest.

Other : Ra should not have predilection to larger joints such as knees.  Other things such as osteoarthritis or degenerative joints, gout/pseudo gout, tendonapahy,  infection are some causes.

Rheumatism?: Polyarthralgia it is called and can be due to systemic arthritis like RA.  But, need know lab tests, age, occupation, history of injury, bone density, symptoms, tenderness to pressure, numbness, weakness, duration and response to OTC meds and much more.  Take some Aleve (naproxen) and get tested if it persists.

Customized plan: Not all patients have the same tolerance to all activities. For my patients, I often recommend starting with low impact exercise, especially swimming and resistance training in the form of Pilates or yoga. The important thing is she finds what she can do comfortably to stay active.

Other arthritis: There are other types of arthritis, including run-of-the-mill osteoarthritis (OA, generic "arthritis"), infections  (viral, Lyme disease, TB, Neisseria - latter 3 can be treated), paraneoplastic arthritis (related to cancer), lupus or other autoimmune conditions, &amp; arthritis related to gout, crystal disease, or other systemic disease (IBD). RA runs in families. Recommend seeing your doctor soon.

had a bad flare.doc put me on prednisone cause x-ray showed inflamation.waiting on blood test for rheumatoid arthritis.is it norm to still feel bad?

Yes: RA is not diagnosed be a blood test or X- Ray.  The diagnostic criterea include lab as well as the duration of symptoms and the features on your physical examination.  Make sure you are diagnosed by someone with experience in this disease.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Steroids play a role in both the short and longterm treatment of ra. We use steroids for flares of the disease but also in newly diagosised patients to get control of disease. The higher the dose and longer use of  Prednisone increases the potential side effects of ra. The good news we have multiple other medications to treat RA and we use these meds to try and get patient off or down on steroids.
