Not really: I guess that all depends upon what your definition of wealthy is. Most orthodontists make a good living, but they wouldn't be considered wealthy. However, some orthodontist do make a great deal of money. There are many factors which determine what the orthodontist makes. I would place orthodontists in the upper middle class as far as yearly salary goes.

Health Insurance : Hello. HealthTap's free, public site is for education. We don’t have knowledge about coverage from individual health insurance agencies. Recommend that you contact your health insurance company to obtain a list of contracted orthodontists. I don't even have a clue what health insurance agency you use. You live in South Africa - most HealthTap doctors are in the USA.

Officially 1 kind: An Orthodontist is a Dentist who has completed at least 5,000 hours of additional training, beyond Dental School, in an approved residency program, in all phases of Orthodontic Care, who has passed all the requisite tests, and who limits his/her practice to just the Specialty of Orthodontics.  There are many non-Orthodontists who provide Orthodontic Care, but not with the same level of expertise.

can you explain how do orthodontists put brackets back on? whats the process?

Bonding process: Brackets are made of metal or ceramic, and need to be bonded to the tooth. This requires stripping off organic matters from the tooth. To achieve this, a surface of the tooth is cleaned with an acidic cleansing gel. If your tooth is covered with ceramic crown, a different kind of bonding is used. An adhesive bonding liquid is applied, ; light-cured to activate the bonding.

Ortho: Each orthodontist provides the modalities that they feel comfortable with and feel provide the best treatment. Most have a range of options including damon, invisalign and more traditional brackets that include clear or more likely white. The more contemporary usually the more options, especially cosmetic. Don't sacrifice long term success for a minimal esthetic result during treatment though..

my orthodontist is not fixing overbite? im am adult. why?

May be best for you: Your orthodontist may have determined that  either correction of your overbite would require jaw surgery ( and the risk/benefit ratio is not favorable), or that extraction of teeth to address the overbite problem might be detrimental to your facial profile and/or jaw joint and dental health. Your orthodontist is in the best position to answer your question based upon your records. Ask him/her.

Yes: Most orthodontist have dental assistants working in their office. They will need to be trained in certain orthodontic procedures.

Accepted Answer

Crossbite: There are two main types of crossbite: anterior (in front) and posterior (in back). Both can be managed with skeletal movement in children, using a palatal expander and headgear. However, these don't work in adults after bones fuse. If you're asking about yourself, a 34 year old, a crossbite cannot be corrected with braces alone, and requires surgical expansion or advancement of the upper jaw.
