can you tell me are leukemia lumps the same as lymphoma?

No: Patients with some types of leukemia can develop lumps or tumors.  Today these are called granulocytic or myeloid sarcomas or extra medullary myeloid tumors.  In the past they were called chloromas because of their greenish hue when cut open.  They are usually not in lymph nodes.  Lymphomas generally do not float around in blood to the same degree and the tumors are usually in the lump nodes.

: Your son just has a neck pain with spasm, lymphoma does not manifest that way, take care yourself.

Probable infection: Throat infection probable cause of the problem especially if the two nodes are on the same side as the throat infection.  With antibiotics for the infection/nodes, they should subside within a 2 wk. period of time.  If the do get smaller and do not increase in number while on meds, one can rule out lymphoma.

Doubt lymphoma: Enlarged lymph nodes from lymphoma are not painful or red. Maybe an inflamed node from an infection in your hand or arm; or a bacterial skin infection; or maybe a chronic condition called hidradenitis suppurativa. HA is more likely if this is a longstanding problem with on and off symptoms, including drainage. See your doctor and take it from there, but no worries about lymphoma. Good luck!

Relax: All young adults have at least one, and usually 2-4, palpable neck nodes. The ones that are lymphoma -- usually Hodgkin's -- are obviously abnormal (size, consistency).

35 year old son has minor collarbone discomfort from a deep breath, not all the time, just sporadic.. no lumps, no fevers, no other symptoms, just this minor discomfort, should i worry about lymphoma? very scared?

: Hello,

There is no indication from anything you have mentioned that you should be worried about lymphoma. He may have a mild musculoskeletal injury, or something else. If you are still concerned, have him see his doctor.

my wbc was 4.1 which is low, and ive had 4 almond sized lumps in my groin for years. could this be related? could it be lymphoma?

Yes: a good idea is to repeat the CBC and monitor your whit counts; however, you may want to ask your PCP about possible biospy of the groin lymph nodes.
