Skin infection: This is a collection of purulent infected material under the skin which os roasted hot painful. It may respond to warm compresses, bit large boils need to be drained and packed.

Maybe...: Incision and drainage after local anesthesia and under sterile conditions would be a much better idea if felt appropriate by the doctor that examines it.  In other words, leave it alone until a doctor examines and advises.  Self manipulation may result in improvement but more likely in worsening.

Boil: Well, if the boil is in the same locale, there may be a foreign body that causes the body to react. If the location of the boil changes, then it may indicate that you have a skin colonization with a particular bacterial sub-type. See a dermatologist to get this checked out by a professional.

Boils: Usually respond to warm compresses that bring them to head, causes them to pop & drain. When draining, keep area clean. Because of location, may need to see doc for incision & drainage , dressing & antibiotics (especially if you get them often). Do not squeeze them as that can force infection deeper.

That's how people have killed germs and parasites in water for the past hundreds of years, and it makes good coffee, tea, soup, and other hot drinks. The key is to have safe kettles or other containers for boiling the water... so that a person does not leach out chemicals from the containers into the water.

Rupture: When a boil ruptures, generally drainage of pus-like discharge will ensue.  It's best to keep the affected area covered while the boil heals on its on.  There is nothing otherwise that needs to be done than to keep the affected area clean, dry and dressed.  It can take 1-2 weeks to completely heal, dependent on the size of the boil.

Good hygiene: Need to obtain a nasal swab for mrsa. May need to be on an antibiotic for weeks or months to supress the bacteria. May need to shower with hibiclens daily for several weeks.

BE PATIENT: In many such situations healing will follow a different pattern than a simple cut.The edges don't just come together (simple cut) the healing is often from the inside. Think of a pit/hole that becomes shallower every day. This is labeled secondary intent, a form of healing that often takes a bit longer.In the end, there may be a small visible scar, but healing still occurs.
