are aneurysm's hereditary?

Not Mendelian: Not hereditary in the mendelian sense. Some families have higher incidence of aneurysms.  Cofactors such as hypertension, diet and smoking habits may play a role in this. Connective tissue disorders are hereditary and some of these are associated with aneurysms but this is an indirect effect. I do not routinely screen family members but a negative mra can be reassuring.

Intracranial aneurys: Prevalence in theus is21, 000 to 33, 000 new cases each year. Predominant age is 4-7th decades of life.  Sex is females greater than males and blacks greater than whites. One in every stroke is caused by a intracranial aneurysm.    I know of no exact inheritable figures available. Weak tissues are associated with the aneurysms. They are: poly cystic kidneys, fibromuscular dysplasia, and elasticum.

Depends: An aortic aneurysm can be the result of inherited conditions like marfan's syndrome. Conversley, aortic aneurysms may appear 'de novo' in those without a family history and only clinical risk factors such as atherosclerosis and hypertension. Since the relationship between genetics and environment is complex, if there is a family history one should always be extra vigilant and monitor.

To some degree: Brain aneurysms like most conditions have some genetic predisposition. Your physician can take a good family history and assess other risk factors to determine if testing such as mr angiography is indicated to detect them.

Generally later in: Life unless related to coarctation.

Possible: Migraines are indeed hereditary, but that does not mean you have an underlying aneurysm.  However, in view of your family history, would suggest a ct-angio just in case, and perhaps kidney ultrasound or abdominal ct looking for polycystic kidney issues, which can be associated with aneurysms.  Hopefully this will reassure you.

Depends: Stable aneurysms (small and not growing) usually have no symptoms ... Large or growing aneurysms, or those about to rupture usually cause pain (abdomen and/or back) and problems with organs that have had their artery branches from the aorta closed off (e.g. Intestines, kidneys, legs, etc.

Yes, if: If getting bigger or starting to rupture, can feel pain ... If branches to your intestines, kidneys, or legs, then can get symptoms related to those areas, again usually abdominal pain, low urine, or leg pain, respectively.
