Juvederm : Only juvederm is fda approved and legal in the us. Aquamid has gone through clinical trials but has not been approved for any use in the us.   Aquamid may provide long-term or permanent correction as opposed to juvederm, which lasts only several months. However, any physician who offers to inject aquamid (as of today, 9/29/13) is violating federal law- beware!

No: Aquamid is not a common filler in the United States. More commonly, juvederm, restalyne, radiesse, (dermal fillers) Perlane and others are used. I would recommend one of these fillers, or a fat transfer in permanent filling is desired.

Aquamid: Aquamid is a non-absorbable soft volume filler for aesthetic and reconstructive purposes. Aquamid is the trade name for a specific formulation. It is expensive and it is best to get a dermatologist advice as to whether there is something better for you.

Possibly dangerous: Any injection of a filler agent in the face, but particularly the nose, can be dangerous. Only seek the care of a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist when considering these type of procedures.

Possibly: Aquamid. Not all these fillers are indicated for every area of the body. Some of them aren't FDA approved and I hope they never are - they're right out dangerous.

Nose: Not as good a as a traditional rhinoplasty. You need to see a plastic surgeon to get a good exam and decide what would be best for you

Although : Although only recently approved in the us for non-cosmetic use, it has been in use in europe for many years. There are some patients there with good results but there are also numerous reports in the medical literature of severe adverse reaction to the product.

Permanent filler: Aquamid is permanent skin filler used in Europe and not in USA. Body produces thin membrane aound injected implant so that it remains permanently. Can be removed surgically rather than by needle aspiration. Don't know whether biopsy sample can or needs to be analysed. Likely does not cause sinus pain as Aquamid is inert and does not cause delayed inflammatory reaction. Good luck.
