Nonspecific: These symptoms do not point to a single diagnosis. Could be infectious (such as a cold), or primary muscle spasm. Best to see your primary care if persistent, or progressive.  The more severe the symptoms, the more urgent the problem. Hope this helps!

i had a hemorrhagic brain stem stroke approx 12 months ago. recently spasticity has set in my right arm, leg, chest, throat & face. what can i do to relieve the throat& facial spasticity which covers my entire face, both sides of my neck & my throat?

: Contact your neurologist and discuss use of BOTOX for upper extremity spasticity.  There are also medications which may help, if side effects are not too intense.

Yes: Anxiety can produce all kinds of symptoms, including a sensation of throat and chest tightness.  If you have swallowed something that you feel may have injured you, please see your physician.  Your physician can also help with anxiety issues.

Anxiety treatment: That is the curse of having health anxiety. Normal bodily sensations and abnormal bodily sensations all are perceived as signs of illness... making it very difficult for either the patient or the doctor to tell when the patient is actually sick (other than suffering the sickness of health anxiety). The patient must teach herself which of her pains, her cramps, her sniffles, etc., are ok to have.

Theoretically yes: Anxiety can exacerbate any physical condition however, it is an unusual symptom. I would certainly check with a physician to see whether there is a physical problem which needs to be treated before blaming it on anxiety. Get it checked out and let us know what you find out.

Anxiety: Sure.  This is called globus pharyngus or globus hystericus.  It can be seen in anxiety, inflammation of the throat, thyroid swelling, or gerd.

Check it out: I had the same experience when i was in medical school... And it turned out to be anxiety... But still you should go and see a doctor. I would suggest finding a good ear, nose and throat specialist.

Definitely: Stress & anxiety can cause almost any symptom you can think of and affect everyone differently. The key to controlling it is to control the stress and reduce anxiety. There are some short-term meds that might be in order but the best results come with working with a therapist to learn to control the stress. See your md for a referal for help.
