i have been on sertraline for 10yrs i came off them 8months ago and went onto mirtazipine for 5months but felt like a zombie anxiety started went propanolol now back on sertraline for 4 days with depression. how long till i feel better again? thanks?

: It's hard to say exactly when you'll feel better, as everyone's response to medication is different. It may take several weeks, but some may see improvement in a few days. Coming off and switching antidepressants can cause withdrawal and make it hard to determine new medication's effectiveness. Work closely with your doctor and give enough time to the medication to work.

being on sertraline for 10years then mirtazipine for 5 months. come off mirtazipine for 8 weeks and anxiety started. tried propanolol im off them. i'm now back on sertraline the 3rd day. when will i start feeling better again will it be as effective?

: Both those psych meds are antidepressants but if you require treatment of chronic anxiety with medication, I'm not sure that setraline is the best choice. It can improve your mood,though.  Your prescribing physician, who knows you best, is also best to advise &amp; treat you.

i sometimes get chest pain while taking 10mg propanolol for anxiety. is this just a side effect?

Anxiety/side effect : Anxiety itself can cause chest pain, however it could also be a side effect of the propranolol.  I would mention it to your prescribing physician. Also consider, when does the pain start? How long does it last?  Does anything make it worse?  Does it go away when you're feeling calmer?  Any other symptoms like shortness of breath or dizziness?

Yes: Propanol can help reduce anxiety. There are a number of other medications that are also effective, also psychotherapy can work.

can i take kalms night tablets to help me sleep if i'm taking propanolol for anxiety?

Accepted Answer

: Valerian root is the main ingredient of kalms which may help insomnia. There is no interaction between valerian root and propranolol so you can both. Good luck.

i'm taking 50mg of propanolol everyday but now want to come off them, can i just stop taking them or do i have to gradually come off them?... also can i still take one now and again if i'm having a bad day with anxiety after stopping?

Plain propranolol: Does not last 12 hrs.  There are other beta blockers that last all day, like Nadolol.  Propranolol is not my choice for anxiety, though

Accepted Answer

Best to taper very: gradually, say,  by one tablet every 2 weeks. However, if your anxiety recurs, then  it is recommended you stay on it. Pls confirm with your primary provider.
