i have hemorrhoids & fissures & sometimes apply vaseline or an oily drop to my anus after having a bowel movement. is it normal to notice very small amount (as big as 3-4 sand grains) of stool leaking as the result of a lot of oil on the anus?

: The anus is normally oily to protect it against abrasive feces, but too much oil may cause some leakage of feces and make the sphincter somewhat lax. A proctologist is advisable to help you treat your hemorrhoids &amp; anal fissure properly and provide follow-up care.

Bowel movements: 2 hours is too long to complete defecation.  I would see a gastroenterologist who can perform a number of tests to evaluate the motility abnormality.  There are a number of medications which impair motility and it is possible that you have a condition that is inherited that causes the lack of motility of your large intestine.  Definitely seek consultation from a board certified gastroenterologist.

3 months ago i had anal fissure and mucus started to appear in my stool. now still sometimes i had pain/burning after bowel movement and sometimes i see a lot mucus and sometimes it completely disappears. stool tests are ok. what should i do now?

: You should see a gastroenterologist-called a GI doctor. There could be many reasons for your symptoms. You may have inflammatory bowel disease, like Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis. The treatment would depend on the diagnosis. You may need a colonoscopy-a lighted tube with a camera is inserted into the rectum while you are asleep. So, see a GI doctor ASAP! Hope you feel better real soon!

Can't tell online: Sounds like er doctor did good physical examination if they saw fissure.  Avoid constipation, (metamucil daily), keep your appointment we'd and see what advice surgeon has for you!

Constipation: If you have incomplete bowel movement and have anal leakage, you are possibly having constipation.  Your bowel habits need to be addressed so that you can have complete bowel movement.  Start with high fiber diet, citrucel daily (titrate to goal of 25-30 grams per day), exercise, and adequate hydration.  If not help, add MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) 1 tablespoon/8oz of water, drink daily (can have up to 2/day).

Rectal prolapse?: Anal/rectal pain and swelling may be an indication of underlying disease--fissure, proctitis, fistula, abscess.  Hemorrhoids may be exacerbated by increased pelvic congestion. Rectal prolapse is a outward bulging. Anal trauma of any kind may cause mechanical injury. Evaluation is recommended to distinguish serious versus less concerning reasons for your symptom/sign as described.

i don't have any pain in anus nor during bowel movement. i just randomly rubbed finger around the anus (outside) and i felt a tiny little cut and it felt little burning/pain when i rubbed it. is it an anal fissure? can fissure be outside the anus?

: yes it can. Try sitz bath after each bowel movement and a couple of times a day, avoid constipation. Try this for 7-10 days you should be OK if not seeMD

during bowel movement today, i had very hard stool and then had blood on toilet paper (not just one tiny spot like other times). i have psoriasis on anus area. and i think hard stool could cut my skin either eternal or external.should i worry?

Old vs. new issues: Blood in the stool, trouble pooping, a lump at the anus, or anal rashes are symptoms that need to be evaluated by a primary care doctor or a gastrointestinal specialist. The cause can be a hemorrhoid, an anal fissure, an infection, etc... Cancer in that area would be ultra rare in a teen. If the cause is already known by the doctor, a teen can just follow her doctor's care instructions.
