Varies: Highly variable by age and whether one is on medicine at the time. A total count (both ovaries) great than 15 is nice to see, with pcos often more than 25. It is best done in the first 5 days of the cycle. A total count less than 7-8 is concerning. But it will vary every month considerably.

Besides the antral: follicle count, also have your anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) test done.  It is the best for checking ovarian reserve.

: There are multiple factors that predict when menopause will occur, and a low antral follicle count (AFC) is one of them. In one study, women with an AFC of 4 or less were nearly twice as likely to undergo menopause within 7 years:

Probably preamtral : This does sound very confusing. I would have the fsh level performed either on day two or three of a subsequent cycle and also an amh level performed any time during the cycle. Hopefully the original fsh of 17 was in error.

Why tested?: Typically the AMH and antral follicle count are done on patients who are dealing with infertility who are considering undergoing in vitro fertilization. These tests are not typically used to predict fertility in those who are not suffering from infertility. We can not determine if you will conceive naturally from just these tests.

Sure: Sure.  You should try as much as possible, but if nothing even with the medications then maybe don't keep going.

Why OHSS?: The only risk significantly linked to ohss is peak Estradiol  (e2) level at the time of HCG or ovulation. Even this is not a reliable indicator for ohss, but any e2 over 3000 should be considered carefully. None of the numbers you list have any bearing on ohss risk.
