Depends: There are many types of antidepressants. Tricyclics cause tachycardia, shaking, seizures, coma, death. Serotonin inhibitors ie fluoxetine causes few problem including lethargy , but can cause hallucinations, GI symptoms. Overdoses are a serious clue to severe depression and thoughts of suicide and are reasons to strongly advise immediate  hospitalization. There are few antidotes.

Love: I love my children and so do most parents. Why do parents take their children to see a doctor when they are sick? Unfortunately, children do get depressed. Antidepressants are very helpful for many children.  More parents are recognizing depression in their children, as parents have become better educated over time. This leads to more diagnosis and earlier treatment.
