: Since many of these are viral I would not suggest starting a treatment that may prove unnecessary. If you have pain, take ibuprofen. Antibiotics would do nothing for the pain in one day.

TEMP?: If no temp, then this may be just the finishing symptoms.

If worsening or temp, then recheck with your DR.

Probably not, but:: If your sore throat is accompanied with other signs of a cold such as cough and runny nose then it's not unusual
to have recurrent episodes of sore throat and earache.

The fact that your symptoms go away for a month would make it highly unlikely that any more serious condition is present.

If your symptoms continue and don't seem to be due to a cold you should see an ENT specialist to be safe.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is very sore, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). The doctor will also look into the ears to check for an ear infection.

Resp. Infection: Sounds like a respiratory infection, usually viral.  Pain in the ears can be due to either ear infection, or simply pressure build up in the ears from nasal and sinus congestion, fluid in the eustachian tubes and subsequent fluid and pressure in the middle ear chamber.  Try decongestants, push fluids, and if high fever or no better in 10 days, see your doc.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is very sore, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep). Some throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can decrease pain.

Depends: It depends on a few things. One would be her age. If she is a child, i might be concerned for an ear infection. If her symptoms started with congestion, the earache might be from the congestion causing pressure on the ear. A decongestant might help. If this is the case, it is likely a virus but you may want to see your doctor to be sure it's not an ear infection.

Viral illness: You have an upper respiratory infection. Stay on Ibuprofen for pain relief.

Wait, but watch: Based on what you have said, it does not sound to be an out of hours case right now, but keep close watch.  Increasing fever,  pain, shortness of breath, weakness, vomiting, etc. Could change the decision to wait.  The definition of a fever is a body temperature above 38, so this barely qualifies.    How high is high?  A fever above 39.5 would start to qualify as high.
