had sex without condom on monday i am on birth control pills take them perfectly . was prescribed antibiotics for uti today(wednesday) is it safe to take them or is there a risk of pregnancy from monday with the antibiotics and birth control pills?

BCP ?'s: Although there are specific antibiotics which can diminish the effectiveness of oral bcp's, if there is no withdrawal bleeding during the active pill series, it is unlikely that protection from pregnancy will be affected.  Competitive absorption of oral bcp's from antibiotics would possibly diminish the active pills presence in the blood stream, so no withdrawal bleeding indicates effectiveness.

Yes: Yes ovarian cysts can sometime successfully be treated the way your doctor is treating it with hormones sometimes it will decrease in size particularly after a menstrual cycle. For diagnosis and treatment see your personal physician

Probably not: Most antibiotics don't interact with birth control pills.  Rifampin and rid ablution do interact and require use of a back up method to prevent pregnancy.  Ask your pharmacist.

Antibiotics: In general antibiotics do not affect birth control pills. The exception is the antibiotic Rifampin which can cause vaginal bleeding.

Next pack: If a woman needs to take antibiotics while on birth control pills it is recommended she use a back up method such as condoms during the time she is on the antibiotics, and to be sure use, for the rest of the pack.  That is because antibiotics can make some bcp less effective at preventing pregnancy.  By the time the next pack is started effectiveness is back.

Should not : It should not but being sick can often cause menstrual cycle disruption. If this is a one time event then it should correct itself. If this is a recurring problem you will need to discuss with your doctor.

No: In general you do not need to take Plan B if you were already on birth control. Most antibiotics will not interact with either Plan B or birth control. If you are uncertain in the future you can always ask the pharmacist or just use a condoms during those days.

No such thing: The flu is a virus. It is not treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics treat bacterial infections.

Yes: Yes, but more importantly, they can INTERFERE with the EFFECTIVENESS of the contraceptive effect of your pill.  Whenever I  prescrive antibiotics for my female patients on the pilll, I counsel them to use a barrier method (condom) for contraceptiive purposes.  For how long depends on how long you are on the antibiotic and where you are in your pill pack. Delived quite a few babies from this.

Oral contraceptives : You are right.  Antibiotics can lower the efficacy of birth control pills, so using a backup method the month you are also using an antibiotic is a good idea.  If taken exactly as directed, that is, one pill every day as close to the same time each day, oral contraceptives have one of the lowest failure rates (risk of getting pregnant).
